Proud heritage of community creation
For more than five decades, City Developments Limited (CDL) has been transforming cities with architectural icons and innovative spaces to live, work and play.
As the developer of Brickworks Park, local subsidiary CDL Australia has been able to draw on this proud global heritage and experience to conceive of the perfect new neighbourhood for Alderley.
Working hand-in-hand with award-winning local designers, the CDL Australia team will ensure Brickworks Park is a showcase of attractive and sustainable urban renewal for others to follow.
Where it all began
CDL is proud of its heritage, demonstrating a commitment to innovation from the very beginning.
Founded to acquire, develop and sell property, CDL commenced operations in a humble office in Singapore in 1963 with just eight employees.
The company went public in November 1963, and its shares were listed on what was then known as the Malayan Stock Exchange.
After continued growth, the company expanded into the commercial and hospitality sectors and entered new markets outside Asia. CDL established itself as a leader in the property industry, with numerous awards for its outstanding green buildings and iconic architectural designs which have transformed city skylines.
Since 1995, CDL has embraced the ethos of “Conserving As We Construct” to assist climate action, transforming cityscapes with numerous award-winning green buildings.
CDL became the first and only private sector developer to receive the inaugural Built Environment Leadership Platinum Star achievement in Singapore’s 2018 Building and Construction Authority Awards.
The group has been honoured with corporate, environmental and project awards that recognise its business excellence and ability to create and manage state-of-the-art homes and offices in areas as diverse as Asia, Australasia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.
CDL’s story today
In 2020, CDL has a network spanning 106 locations in 29 countries and has created more than 46,000 dwellings around the world.
It also owns more than 1.67 million square metres of lettable floor area globally and its London-based hotel arm, Millennium & Copthorne Hotels Limited (M&C), is one of the world’s largest hotel chains, with over 152 hotels and 44,000 rooms worldwide, many in key gateway cities.
Listed on the Singapore Exchange, CDL is recognised internationally for its commitment to sustainable and innovative development that improves the lives of residents.
The Group was ranked the world’s top real estate company on the 2020 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World, reflecting a passionate commitment to green building design and addressing climate change. CDL has now featured on this prestigious global list for 11 consecutive years.
Bringing international experience to Australia
With plans for a long-term presence in this country, CDL Australia is led by two property executives with extensive experience in the local market, John Bush and Cameron Laird.
CDL Australia has already acquired four significant development sites in Brisbane and Melbourne and was a key partner in the completed Ivy and Eve project– a 476 -unit twin tower development located in South Brisbane.
The result of this extraordinary combination of international experience and local knowledge will see Brickworks Park become a visionary residential neighbourhood that will capture the essence of modern inner Brisbane living and celebrate this site’s rich history.
