Downsizing dream comes true for local couple
Downsizers Debby and Jeff Knight have loved the outlook from their highset pole home of eight years at Gaythorne on Brisbane’ northside.
It was only natural then that outlook was a key consideration when they were searching for their next home. They have found that and more with a third-floor apartment at Brickworks Park purchased off the plan.
The apartment’s generously proportioned balcony will provide a sweeping outlook over trees and parkland as well as a position high enough to catch the breezes.
“We have been looking to downsize for quite some time,” said Debby. “I’m keenly interested in real estate and when I saw Brickworks Park I thought: ‘This sounds interesting.’
“We made an appointment with the sales office, and I’m glad we did.
“While our home at Gaythorne suits us now, it won’t into the future. It has 32 steps, four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two works sheds, two garages and a swimming pool.
“It’s a large home to maintain. Together with the swimming pool – while fabulous to have – it takes a bit of work.”
Among the newest of buyers at Brickworks Park, the couple are looking forward to a new, easy-maintenance lifestyle in a location they know and love.
They also appreciate the new neighbourhood’s close proximity to public transport, including two train stations which are an easy stroll away.
“We wanted to be near the train line, and the Newmarket station is just 800 metres away,” said Debby.
“At Brickworks Park, the proposed landscaping and the number of trees they are intending to plant looks amazing as well.”
What sealed the deal was the pet-friendly policy.
Debby and Jeff are proud owners of an endearing Jack Russell-chihuahua cross named Timmy – a rescue dog and the newest member of their family.
“When we found out Brickworks Park was pet friendly, that was it,” said Debby.
Their new home will feature three bedrooms and a study which is large enough to double as a fourth bedroom, as well as two bathrooms.
